WEEK 2 LESSON: January 12, 2025

WEEK 2 LESSON: January 12, 2025

  • G2K: I believe God can speak to me!

  • Memory Verse: John 6:69 - “We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”

  • Bible Lesson: The Baptism Of Jesus: Luke 3:2-3, 21-22; Psalm 29:3-9

WEEKLY CHALLENGE: This week, we talked about how we believe God speaks to us! The voice of God can become familiar to us when we make time to know God. We can do this by reading and memorizing Scripture, talking to God in prayer, quietly being with God, and thinking about what is true about God. The more time we spend with God, the more likely we are to know God’s voice! God speaks to us in different ways but the question is, are we listening? To reinforce this lesson, use this activity.

Instructions: For this activity, have your kids make a necklace or bracelet using the dove charm that was given to them in service this week. They can add some pony beads on either side of the charm and then knot the ends. They can proudly wear their camp necklaces or bracelet as a reminder that God speaks to us! See a worked example here.

When Jesus was baptized, God’s Spirit came down in an interesting form. What was it? A dove! Let’s make our own camp necklaces with a dove to help us remember that just like God spoke on that day, God speaks to us today. I believe God can speak to me!

FAMILY TIME: Use these questions to start a conversation with your children about this week’s lesson.

  • Read Psalm 29:3-9. What are some words the psalmist uses to describe the voice of God?

  • What are some ways we can hear God’s voice today?

  • What might God be saying to you?
