WEEK 1 LESSON: January 5, 2025
WEEK 1 LESSON: January 5, 2025
G2K: I believe God gives me purpose!
Memory Verse: John 6:69 - “We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”
Bible Lesson: John Prepares the Way: Mark 1:1-8; Ephesians 1:3-14
WEEKLY CHALLENGE: This week, we talked about how it’s important for us to believe that God gives us purpose! You might not notice it just yet, but God has a special purpose for each and every one of us. We might not all be the same, like the different parts in a camping tool, but we all have purpose! God created each of us with a purpose-something we were made to do. Ultimately, we were made to know God, and how we live can tell others of God’s love. I can trust God’s plan for me because I believe God gives me purpose-and you can, too. To reinforce this lesson, use this activity.
Instructions: For this activity, follow these instructions to help your kids make their own lanterns using battery-operated tea lights, transparency film, colored paper, permanent markers, and string. Have kids write the “Good To Know” along the piece of paper that will wrap around the tea light base.
Moving through a campsite without a light source like lanterns would be difficult. They light the way for us to navigate in the darkness. John’s purpose was to help people see the error of their ways and turn back to God. In doing so, he was lighting the way for Jesus. Just like God gave John purpose, each of us can confidently say, I believe God gives me purpose.
FAMILY TIME: Use these questions to start a conversation with your children about this week’s lesson.
Read Ephesians 1:11-12. How do you think this relates to God’s purpose for you?
Do you think God gives everyone the same purpose?
What is something you can do for the purpose of leading others to Jesus?
