WEEK 2 LESSON: November 10th, 2024
WEEK 2 LESSON: November 10, 2024
G2K: God gives us opportunities!
Memory Verse: Zephaniah 3:17a - “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.”
Bible Lesson: Ruth Meets Boaz: Ruth 2; Mark 12:38–44
WEEKLY CHALLENGE: This week, we talked about how God gives us opportunities, and many of those opportunities might benefit someone else, not just ourselves. Just like Ruth used her opportunity to take care of Naomi and Boaz used his to take care of Ruth, we can also use every opportunity God gives us to help others! To reinforce this lesson, use this activity.
Instructions: For this activity, print the Barley Bookmark printable on cardstock paper, cut each one out, and give one to each of your children. Provide hole punches for kids to do themselves. Give your child about twenty inches (50 cm) of beige or gold satin ribbon to create the barley stalk. Follow this tutorial for instructions on threading the ribbon through the holes. After kids have woven their ribbons, they can write the Good To Know (G2K) or memory verse on the bottom.
This barley stalk reminds us of how God led Ruth to exactly the right field at the right time to meet the right person, Boaz. Likewise, God gives us opportunities like these, not just to get what we need but to be the ones to offer help to someone else!
FAMILY TIME: Use these questions to start a conversation with your children about this week’s lesson.
Read Mark 12:43–44. Why did the widow give so little? What did Jesus say about that?
Can you think of an opportunity you might have to help someone?
When was a time when you may have missed an opportunity to help someone? What kept you from stepping in?
