WEEK 1 LESSON: November 3rd, 2024
WEEK 1 LESSON: November 3, 2024
G2K: God gives us companions!
Memory Verse: Zephaniah 3:17a - “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.”
Bible Lesson: Ruth and Naomi: Ruth 1; Mark 12:28–34
WEEKLY CHALLENGE: This week, we talked about how God gives us companions! Jesus left heaven to come to Earth, living among people to teach them about God and care for them. Through His actions, Jesus showed what it means to be a true companion. When asked which of God’s commandments was most important, Jesus said to love God with everything and to love others as God loves us. By this, He taught that we show our love for God when we show love to others. To reinforce this lesson, use this activity.
Instructions: For this activity, you'll need to provide your child with a ten-inch length of ribbon, yarn, or string, along with assorted beads. Encourage them to make a bracelet for a friend at church or school. Just as Ruth and Naomi supported each other during a difficult time, God places friends and family in our lives to help us through our challenges. As they work on their bracelets, ask them to think of someone they want to thank for being a companion in their life.
FAMILY TIME: Use these questions to start a conversation with your children about this week’s lesson.
Read Mark 12:31. How might "loving your neighbor as yourself" make you a good companion?
Who are the companions God has given you already?
Ruth and Naomi were uncertain about their future. What are you unsure about? How can you trust God?
