WEEK 4 LESSON: November 24, 2024
G2K: God gives us hope!
Memory Verse: Zephaniah 3:17a - “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.”
Bible Lesson: Ruth Marries Boaz: Ruth 4; Revelation 1:4-8
WEEKLY CHALLENGE: This week, we talked about how God gives us Hope! Have you ever heard the saying, “hope floats?" It means that when you have hope, it lifts you and others up. It helps you believe that things will turn out great and allows you to hold on when things get tough. God gives us hope in every situation, but has already given us our greatest hope-Jesus! To reinforce this lesson, use this activity.
Instructions: For this activity, have your child trace around their foot or shoe to make a pattern for their “Super Sandal” on cardstock, light cardboard, or craft foam. Punch three holes: one in the space that would separate the big toe from the other toes and one on each side about halfway down the length. Fold a pipe cleaner in half, and poke the folded part through the top of the toe hole, securing it on the bottom with tape. Provide beads for kids to decorate the straps before poking the ends into the respective holes on the side and securing the ends with tape. Have your kids decorate with markers and stickers, writing a combination of all four Good To Knows this month: "God gives us companions, opportunities, boldness, and hope!" See a worked example here.
The sandal in the Bible story represents hope. When the other relative took off his sandal, he was giving Boaz permission to be the guardian-redeemer Ruth and Naomi needed. But really, it was God who made it happen. God was the unsung hero all along! Let's make our own super sandals to remind us to sing God's praises as the hero of our stories because God loves us and gives us companions, opportunities, boldness, and, hope!
FAMILY TIME: Use these questions to start a conversation with your children about this week’s lesson.
